Today I am starting a new weekly series called Art Projects for Kids and today’s project is Bugs in the Grass! I love doing art projects in the classroom as it has so many benefits: developing fine motor skills, following directions, self-expression, critical thinking, communication and on and on. And when the project is complete kids generally feel a great sense of pride seeing their work hanging for all to see.
For this art series I’ve decided to go with a monthly theme. So for our inaugural month we’re going to use googly eyes in all our projects. Googly eyes may not represent high art, but they sure add character!
What you need
- White paper or card (whatever size you want your artwork to be).
- Blue watercolour paint & a paintbrush or sponge (see the video for an example).
- Blue, yellow and white tempera or finger paints.
- Googly eyes of various sizes if you have them.
- Chopstick or small paint brush.
How it’s done

How will I remember?

I hope your kids love this art project and wish you happy teaching and learning!

I hope your kids enjoy it! I was wondering today how it would look if the kids chose to use different colours instead of green for the grass. Might be cool to have pinks and purples and oranges!
